  1. the debate is based on the fact of why people hate gentrifiers- their is a fundamental belief that once they move in they will then make their world a rainbow but THAT is exactly where all the talk of displacement comes from- and i think that is where the debate stems from… making your world like pleasantville and stopping there- such a 50’s attitude. i get it but then i don’t when i really think about other people’s existence and the overall state of brooklyn right now being so in flux.

  2. And if you don\’t like living in NYC, get the hell out. You aren\’t going to turn NYC into your little slice of red state, republican heaven.

Want the \’burbs? Then GO to the freakin\’ BURBS!

  3. Tish James and the 88th Precinct serve the neighborhoods of Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. Residents of Clinton Hill, and of Lefferts Place in particular, have spoken. THEY DO NOT WANT A DRUG AND PROSTITUTION EMPORIUM/HOTEL IN THEIR COMMUNITY! THAT IS THEIR RIGHT! IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, MOVE SOMEPLACE ELSE!

  4. Why should LP go to Bedstuy to close down flop houses when there’s a flop house in his own community? Further, why are the two mutually exclusive to begin with? That’s like saying, “someone shouldn’t attempt to help impoverished children in Brooklyn unless they were also planning to help poor children in Iraq, Sudan and Haiti!” Does this sound sensible to you?

  5. is there no one out there that knows a prostitute or a drug addict?? come on people- the only difference between them and you is that you were never put to their test. would a reality show help you understand. fighting for your community is a start but really has anyone thought about the children? what about the children growing up right this very minute that will only be a nuisance when you’ve died and give your kids your house? in other words it’s not just a hotel or job training it much more than anyone paying for a brownstone could really care about and have time to fix.
