“The absolute worst things on tv then were those ABC Afterschool Specials.”
Yeah! It was always some TERRIBLE situation like incest or homelessness. Pretty heavy stuff for after school when you were just looking to blow off steam!
Yep, we had no choice on our after school TV as kids. Only 2 channels showed kids programs and we never watched one of them (because it had adverts) – think we weren’t allowed.
But we did get Scooby Doo and I loved it (not so much the later version, with his young cousin ‘Scrappy Doo’).
“Not only did we have very few channels, we had no remote!! You had to get off your A** and walk over to the TV and change the damn channel.”
cobble, I will always remember the time that we had just got a TV with a remote control and my friend came over. Not knowing about the remote control, my dad proceeded to change the channels while holding it out of sight. The look on my friend’s face was priceless. He had never seen it before. Sort of like there was magic going on.
I also remember having channels 2 to 13 (in black and white, of course) and having to get up the change the channel. Fortunately, as ENY pointed out, there wasn’t much to choose from so we didn’t have to change it very often.

“We had a rule that you have to be first to tap the side of the tv and say “In Charge!” to control what we watched.”
Yep, the kids’ court. We had that, too. You had to “call” it. Once you “called” it, it was like the law. Seinfeld had a bit about that.

Make that “his” posts, not “their.” See HOTD thread.
Sorry for the interruption. Now back to the dating game (cue Herb Alpert) . . .
I loved Foghorn Leghorn. Yes to Thunder Cats. Hated most of the Looney Tunes but did love Bugs (sarcasm is a plus!) Hated hated hated Goofy

“I like Japanese erotic cartoons.”

Well, that’s a surprise. I would never have pegged you for liking them.
Biff…it looks like What outed himself as BHO in HOTD.
“How about Foghorn Leghorn?”
Another great one. “Gotta keep on your toes…..TOES, that is!”
