Dave, I have a friend with high tryglicerides too. He cut back on soda, but hasn’t had a blood test yet to see if it worked.
I wonder what effect cutting out refined carbs and potatoes would have, since these supposedly are very similar to sugar. But they’re practically inescapable unless you eat all your meals at home. Or in Paris.
We could all move to Paris. I think that would help.
BRG, you actually made me remember that it’s Yizkor and I have to light a memorial candle tonight for my father. Otherwise, I might have forgotten, so thanks for that.
BRG, my father passed away from cancer and everyone else in my immediate family has had cancer in some form and I was not offended by your post in the slightest. Almost all talk of cancer, including my stats posted above your post, is beneficial in that it raises awareness.
Now can we please go back to talking about any or all of the random and meaningless topics I’ve raised today?
CH, definitely.
I forgot to mention in the cereal discussion that I have the following boxes sitting in my office:
1) Puffins Peanut Butter (low fat, wheat free – since when was being wheat free something to advertise?)
2) Trader Joe’s High Fiber Cereal
3) Trader Joe’s Organic Raisin Bran Clusters
4) Trader Joe’s Toasted Oatmeal Flakes
I also have two giant bottles of Fresca, my favourite soda.
OK…I went to the Amish market and I bought a box of Benefit Nutrition’s “Simply Fiber.” Each serving has:
14g of Fiber (56% RDA)
NO Sugar
1g fat
0 trans fat
1g soluble fiber & 13 g insoluble fiber
0 cholesterol
0 sodium
And on the way back I got a cheeseburger, dill pickle and bag of chips.

It’s good to stop and take time to remember people we have lost.
I went on a wheat-free, dairy-free, sugar-free diet once. It took some experimenting and getting used to, but it was pretty interesting.
I lost about 25 lbs., my recurrent sinus infections went away, I had a ton of energy, and went from a size 12 to a 6.
mopar…its PREDOMINANTLY the refined sugars and HCFS that are the main causes and just eliminating coke dropped my numbers to close to normal
Thanks, Snappy!

BRG, in the scheme of things, that’s one of your least tasteless posts! Chin up, my dear. It wasn’t bad.
