Yeah it’s changed because of people who actually grow a pair and do something about it, like making TV shows where gays are portrayed as normal people, so the 12 year old watching TV in east bumfuck nowhere doesn’t grow up to be such a homophobe. Just saying “I support gay marriage” does nothing. Of course that doesn’t stop people from saying it and acting like they’re freedom riders.
My experiences at the NY DMZ were horrible, but the individual workers seemed decent enough. I have seen some post office employees go out of their way to make the experience better.
Both of those environments are ones that make it very easy to “retire in place” once you get in.
