dibs, the ripping off of illegal immigrants I refereed to was along the lines of what Legion said – not being paid or under payed at the end of the day.
Every now and then there would also be stories about a laborer being killed/seriously hurt on construction sites due to safety practices not being followed.
The area of LA I lived in had several large huge day laborer gathering spots.
Legion, I really felt ripped off. I like John Hlad very much and have used him for years, but I will now ask how much every little thing costs, itemized, before I say go ahead. I would have bought a new toilet for my tenant, first off. Why should I spend a fortune repairing an ancient toilet, for Chrissakes?

Schools that meet certain free lunch eligibility receive loads of additional federal dollars.
Those that don’t have to make up for the lack of funds with PTA involvement.
This gets to the ridiculous level in Manhattan where the PTA’s can raise upwards of a million dollars with people holding auctions for weeks at their Hampton’s pad.

ditto, this was their routine yearly checkup. We spent $9,000 ( NINE THOUSAND) to try and save our burmese. He lasted a few more days. We learned an expensive lesson in pet care.
