I am starting to sense that President Obama is going to be haunted in the coming election by an issue he thought would be a triumph: health care. I am seeing more and more signs that things are not working out as expected:
-last week my mother-in-law received a notice from her “MediGap” insurance provider that its premiums would go up by ten percent this coming year.
-before my daughter landed her present job 6 months ago, I had to take out an individual policy for her. Right before she joined her present employer, I received a notice from the insurer that the premium would rise from $900/month to $1200/month.
-I now have to book my local primary-care physician 8 weeks in advance. Only 1-2 weeks used to be required.
-When I saw my cousin this weekend, he told me that his company is increasing his share of the premiums for family health coverage by more than 50% over what he is now paying.
Legion, you are right. I was telling a friend of mine recently that I don’t like handyman work myself. I am fine with painting and doing small repairs and I get up on ladders to clean windows, change light bulbs, I clean etc (just proving I am not a princess) but I really need somebody to help out. The work Hlad did on my toilet probably qualified as requiring somebody who really knows what he is doing to fix. The other stuff no. I can’t be forking over 850 dollars all the time.
He did nothing to cut taxes and boost spending when it was necessary early on. The cash For Clunkers was asinine. Only this year did he cut witholding and that runs out.
He’s focused solely on his SOCIAL AGENDA and has no energy plan and no plan for the economy. The fiscal stimulus has been a disaster largely because it came too late.
Any bod who wants to run against him needs only one slogan “It’s the Economy, Stupid.”
You can keep defending him but it’s clear from the numbers that his policies have failed. Asking what someone else might have done who didn’t get elected is just stupid talk.
