I saw movie that you would probably find interesting. It’s about a woman fighting her way up the ladder at a diamond commodity house in London during the 60’s. It’s with Demi Moore and Michael Caine.
ENY- I would agree with that. I haven’t seen the Dove commercial so I can’t say anything about it, but one thing I have noticed over the years- Black models are usually lighter skinned and with features closer to European. Someone like Esther Rolle, whom I thought was magnificent looking, would never be hired to be the face of Black women by an ad agency. And that’s really sad. I wonder when will we learn to see beauty in people who don’t fit the present “ideal”?

I don’t know if the ad is so bad either, BedStuyMaven. But the statistics regarding the number of black people working at major advertising firms is pretty revealing. I can tell you it was the same thing during my career at major PR firms. Not that there aren’t black folks working in these fields. Just that are SO VERY few.
I know, I know, ENY hanging out on those tropical islands and sipping mojitos is rough work but someone’s got to do it. 😉
Re Yankees, hmmm…not too impressive so far, but the season is young. I haven’t been to any games yet. The weather has been so crappy….. Have you?
