The damage to your pocket pants is mosty likely due to the design of that particular arm rest, not your actions. A person going through the normal motions of sitting down on that seat has a much higher chance of ripping their pant pocket. Moreover, as Arkady mentioned above, this problem is well known, and the MTA has done nothing to correct it. Ergo, I had no problem making a $20 claim against them.
