  1. yes Rem, I mean Benson, I am making a rare cameo.
today’s OT seems more interesting than most days.
I want to tell donatella that I too just bought and inspirion laptop from Dell, so far so good, I like the nice wide 19″ screen, a comparable Mac would run a gazillion dollars. All is well except Itunes which did not transfer all that well. I confess I don’t understand what sort of license restrictions one is bound to when transfering Itunes from one computer to another. Seems like it should be easy, but no siree.
That is my only complaint -and its w/Itunes.

  2. lech, on an episode of House, they were trying to diagnose an illness that came about because of someone finding an old bottle from a Dutch shipwreck where everyone died of a disease. They were able to get the ship’s record book from a museum and used an online chat hooker in The Netherlands to translate it late at night.

  3. Interesting, re: last week’s discussion of Jim Huntsman. In 2009 he seemed to agree more or less with Paul Krugman on ARRA.

HUNSTMAN: Well, if I were in Congress, I probably would not have voted in favor because it didn’t have enough stimulus and probably wasn’t big enough to begin with.

Every Russian I’ve ever had a serious conversation with has been able to focus for approximately 4 minutes in exchange for 20 dollars.

    Except Kens.

LMAO, I can only listen to Jackal for 4 minutes if he buys me a cranberry/vodka (which runs around 10 bucks I guess).

  5. Still having ‘puter issues & can’t read the whole OT because of crashes. My mother -clinical psychologist- worked w/ autistic kids when I was about 10 – over 50 years ago. Diagnosis was based on kids’ interaction w/ environment – if they rocked back & forth, didn’t talk or meet a person’s eyes, etc. She often got results – having them talk to hand puppets & do other role playing – but her patients weren’t diagnosed as “profoundly autistic.”

  6. Biff, strippers are a *very* good source of information about Eastern European and former soviet bloc politics. Seriously. Let’s say you have to do a deal in, say, kazakhstan, and you want to know who really runs the country. Do not bother looking it up online. Go to a strip club and ask for the kazakh dancer. She’ll know.

  7. Here’s a snippet I found online re the book my dad’s first wife wrote about my half brother. This matches pretty much exactly what my dad has told me. He was a very normal, lieable, athletic kid until he was about 18.

“SEA OF GLASS unfolds the harrowing journey of the Talbott family after their gifted, athletic son swiftly declines into an illness so severe and confusing that for several years the Talbotts cannot find a doctor to give it a name or explain its ramifications.”
