Snappy quote: 9:28 AM – Anybody know how the apocalypse folks arrived at the conclusion that tomorrow is the date for it? What sources did they use?
—
Snappy, I don’t know they arrived at May 21. I Googled, a bit however. Surely they are using the recent earthquakes, floods, disasters:
“And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.” (Luke 21:11)
Jester, I’ve done some serious Christian study in my day, as well, and it’s clear to me that the New Testament, from the Gospels through the Letters, is much more about how a relationship with the Creator, and therefore with his creations: mankind and the earth, not sitting around waiting for the end, and the commupance of those we don’t like. All total, there may be three entire pages dealing with the end times, and an entire thick volume talking about loving God, loving your neighbor, taking care of the poor and helpless, and living your life in harmony with God. Of course, some people just can’t take the hint.
they hate gays, soldiers, Jews, other Christians who don;t share their particular set of beliefs, women- there isn’t much they don’t hate. They have a website if you want to join them.
bfarwell- I have friends who are, well simply put, voodoo priests. I understand their point of view for animal sacrifice and would never make fun of their beliefs. they are some of the kindest, most generous people I’ve ever met. Their beliefs are inclusive, not an “us vs you” scenario where getting into heaven is a competition because there are only a certain number of spots, or reserved for “true believers.”
