CGtoCHI,
Welcome!! Your PLUSA manual, and membership card are in the mail.
Please be advised that upon attending your first PLUSA gathering, you will be expected to buy the first round of shots. Identification of one or more PLUSAs will earn you extra credit.
Please send Snappy your membership dues by the 15th of the month, she gets cranky if you’re late, and we stop sending the newsletter after two late payments.
Also, please advise your boss that s/he needs to lighten your workload so that you can keep up with posting regularly. Spotty posting is frowned upon!!
Slopey, yep. Most of these dudes came from big lawfirms specifically for the CUSH hrs and the paycut was all worth it cause they get to LIVE their lives
Ugh, I did Peace Corps and still went to law school. My problem was I decided before I left for Peace Corps that I would go to law school upon my return. I considered it my 5 year plan – which also made it easier to “sell†to my parents. Had I reassessed during the Corps, I doubt I would have gone to law school- but it felt great to have a plan when the rest of the volunteers were worried about what to do next.
The one thing I am happy about is that I didn’t go to fancy schools – had I ended up in this job after having gone to prestigious and enlightening institutions, I’d really be pissed that this was all it was for.

I read or heard somewhere that a high percentage of lawyers are not happy with their chosen profession.

I spent summers during college at the back of a paver building county roads. Now I work for a too big to fail firm…makes you miss the old days.

I should’ve stuck with acting school, though there are only so many roles for which they’re looking to cast a George Costanza-type.
CGar, what would’ve been your alternate route? MBA for sure right? ie into a banker gig
Sounds like you are working next to in house counsel, m4l. Very different than big firm life.
