Yes, Chicago is a great restaurant city but try and get to Athenian Room and ONLY order the chicken. O’fame pizza on webster just east of Halstead is a truly excellent pizza
It is very much still there, converted into apartments..In the interest of staying anonymous on the internet, I may or may not (but definitely may) have an apartment in that building. I’ve always wondered what it was like in its day… The first floor ballroom has turned into the parking garage, the ornate ceiling is still intact.
When they broke that story about the “socialist pig” at the IMF,
my first thought was to wonder if he was staying at the Waldorf and had drinks at the bar there.
Imagine being an architect, though, & having to know all the legal arcana of the code & having to appeal to lawyers to file for permits, etc. to get things done.

Become a Port Authority gardener and rake in over 200K a year with overtime.
The paper had another story today on one of these Authoritiy workers making three times his base salary in overtime. Nice.

And no, haven’t been to that place. The Lakeview/Lincoln Park area has so many great places.

I dated an architect back in Chicago. Shit job until you make partner.

I got “married” in the Belmont Hotel. Is that still there or torn down.
Have you ever been to Athenian Room on Webster behind Glascott’s Bar on Halstead? Without a doubt THE BEST CHICKEN IN THE WORLD
Mopar – I read it. I wondered why Mr. B wasn’t mentioned by name and was referred to only as Mr. Demby’s partner.
Why was it so bad?
