LOL. Even though we had a cleaning lady (assume cleaning person or house keeper is more politically correct these days), my mom also did most of the housework. Dad didn’t lift a finger when he got home…he was hardcore old school that way, but I think that was the norm for his generation. Probably explains why my mom and other people over 70 think fathers today are super dads when they do anything whatsoever to assist at home and with children.
“For some reason it still seems strange to me to have a regular cleaning person.”
Scott, I still do some things myself (e.g., all the laundry) and Mrs. C does lots of stuff, including all the cooking. But since she went back to work, we both thought it was finally time to treat ourselves and have someone else do the things we really didn’t enjoy…like scrubbing toilets and dusting during our time away from work.
Yes, Biff, everyone I know had a housekeeper. Her name was “Mom”. She had unwilling helpers who spent their Saturdays cleaning when they wanted to be doing other things. In our family, their names were “me” and “my brother.”
MM. I’m surprised you watch anything like that on TV.
[Ratcheting down respect a few notches]
“We had help in the 60s in North Carolina. Practically mandated to my mother. She left NC as if it was a burning bldg.”
Literally laughed out loud. Admin next to me giving me stranger looks than usual.

“We always had one growing up in Toronto but is this more of a New York thing?”
It’s a Jewish thing.
Therapists are a New York thing.

Bush gets some credit:
(although, verrrrrry reluctantly from Panetta and the press)

If we really wanted to smoke out Rob, we would stop discussing The Good Wife and start discussing RuPaul’s Drag Race or America’s Next Top Model.
