“My brothers and sister still chuckle about my mom’s reason for making sure we put on fresh underwear every day. My mom would say: “If you have an accident and have to go to the emergency room, I don’t want the doctors to think that I’m a bad mother”.
lol benson,
When I see patients with dirty undergarments,
I usually think less of them.
Then I charge them more. 😉
Montrose, I agree with you. I just calculated what our housekeeper gets on an annualized basis. It’s over six figures pre-tax. I think that’s a fair wage.
Probably explains why my mom and other people over 70 think fathers today are super dads when they do anything whatsoever to assist at home and with children.
And they should be forgiven for prior transgressions. Anything over a year old isn’t worth bringing up.
Put a rag in my hand, and I am dynamite!! Personal and home cleanliness was a BIG thing with my folks. We were all assigned a task for the weekend.

It’s a class thing. If you can afford help, nothing wrong with it. Although hiring to clean a studio when you are twenty-four years old is a bit much.
If you can’t, then you do it yourself.
My problems with it come with the feelings of entitlement or superiority that some have. Also the way people mistreat or underpay the help. If someone else is doing a job that I can do, but don’t want to, the least I can do is pay a fair wage for someone else to do it, and treat them with respect.

11217, I’ll let Noki know. I sent her to HOTD the other day when you posted to her.

Yeah, right, Dave! 🙂
MM,
You still owe me $15 dollars for mowing the backyard all summer last year.
…and I didn’t appreciate that you made me pay for the lawnmower!
Hey Guys,
Does anyone know if Nokilissa ever reads the Open Thread? I think I found her house.
