Lech, it was about half Black, 1/4 Asian, and a smattering of whites and Hispanics. Surprised so many Asians, thought were hardly any living on East Coast here. I couldn’t get a grip on profession or educational background. No hipsters.
Sorry to disappear and miss all your amusing comments — got pulled into a group counseling session for 1.5 hours.
Ok, here’s the weird thing — it was great! Our leader was like a combo preacher, EST trainer, shrink, and healer all rolled into one. It was not bullshit. It was not a waste of time. I want to go back!!!!
DH, when you’re that good, you rather be going gig to gig as full time gig dont pay nearly as much. this has been the case with all the primo tech guys we’ve encountered – ie Full time is like 40-45% paycut to them
Please, it is April 2011, way too early to decide who is a serious candidate. If you are getting any mention at all, you can say whatever shit you want and if you have enough access to the public you will show up in the polls. When they all get serious and start looking to testing each other and not just criticizing Obama, and when they start raising $$ or not and building organizations, we’ll see who’s serious. Rudy G and Fred Thompson were considered serious much later than this in the last cycle, but neither candidate really was. There’s a lot of “I don’t like the field, let’s look at the new guy” going on, both with the public and the media and that will continue for some time.
“The problem with pets is they live too long. If someone engineered a dog or a cat that would die in exactly one year or two years or something I would probably get it.”
I could see you getting down with a big, badass dog.
Lechacal, I have to admit that I did feel a burden of responsibility when I found out they could live till 20.
Like what if in my next job, I have to travel a lot. Who would take care of them? Would I have someone come over or could I drop off the fish bowl? But then the water would spill in my car… Would my tenants do it? But they travel. So I decided not to think about it. Getting crazy over two goldfish???? Worse comes to worse, I will give them away. That assumes that I don’t inadvertantly kill them. 🙁
“more power to them, DH. Most of us never get paid for all the hours we put in. I worked on a yearlong project for a organization a few years ago and got royally screwed. I earned the equivalent of 2$ an hour when it was all over. Learned my lesson then.”
yeah – i’m not hating, just jealous in a “why didn’t i think of that” sorta way.
how much does a freelancer need to make before a company should consider hiring them full time? or would the superstar freelancers rather be temp for a bunch of different companies and make mad cheddah?

“Mitt Romney, the field’s nominal front-runner, said Obama should be talking about jobs instead of where he was born.”
Funny- he didn’t tell the Donald to talk about his plans for the economy instead of Obama’s birth certificate.
I sense a tone in that remark. In fact he was being a good politician, letting his immediate opponent dig his own grave.

That’s a great fish story, bxgrl. HAHA!!!! Too bad about the shark in the fireplace though.
