  1. Dh- a combination of both. The superstars probably do better freelancing. And it varies from company to company. From what I’ve been seeing the last few years, you have to work for a pittance to get a full time job. They want you to know CS4 or 5, Quark, MS office, web coding, prepress, etc. all for 10-15 $ an hour.

Graphic art an design is not the most important job in a business but then again, if you don’t get your message out and you don’t grab your customer’s attention, you can’t be successful either. There’s a guy I know who fancies himself a web designer. He knows his geek stuff, especially video- but he has no eye. If you went to his own professional website, he is still using those awful templates from the early 90’s MS Front Page. And he wants people to trust him as a designer. He’s not getting business- and he wonders why.

  2. I turned off my flash yesterday.

The flash issue has nothing to do with the technology of the site.

They are 100% caused by buggy ads Mr. B accepts from real estate companies.

My assumption is that those companies hired underemployed freelances to do the ad programming 🙂

  3. DH, are they making more than $8,000 a month? Remember, the co is saving shitloads not paying benefits. Medical $600 pp $1000 and up family. 401K matching funds — potentially thousands a month. Etc.
