  1. “I don’t disagree with this statement. Unfortunately, military technology is like Apple computers, as soon as a new model is developed, the next one is already coming out of research and development.”

that’s really all i’m talking about.

we’ve spent what, close to a trillion on iraq?

one can be ready to kick some ass without fighting every asshole who pisses us off.

i’m not suggesting we turn into some pussies like switzerland, but shooting million dollar missiles at shit we’re going to end up rebuilding seems pretty whack.

  2. Brooklyn Couch – you sound like a fucking dumbass.

That’s what all the Democrats and/or socialists say. And imagine: I don’t listen to Rush Limbaugh, don’t watch Fox News Channel (or own a tv, actually); don’t own a gun; and am Jewish–gosh!

  3. “I consider it a failure of the US education system that most members of the public cannot articulate the reasoning for US power projection”

perhaps we should spend more on education!!

  4. donatella,

I realize that a “basket” of world currencies might do well to stabilize the economic markets and current turmoil around the world.
Unfortunately, I don’t see the “world” as having a very good track record on the issue of stability.
That’s the ONE primary thing that has made the US currency the choice of world banks and it goes hand in hand with military supremacy.

India is only just emerging from it’s history of colonialism and still grapples with the explosion of it’s own population set to overtake even china by mid century.
Brazil, while rich in resources still has internal instability and a long history of South American socialist/fascist romances in the region.
    Russia, enough said.
    China, ditto
    South Africa? ok.

Simply put, I wouldn’t trust these nations with my future as far as I can throw them.
    That’s just my opinion. ;o)

  5. I consider it a failure of the US education system that most members of the public cannot articulate the reasoning for US power projection – regardless of whether they agree with it. Our military has contributed enormously to global stability and our own economic power in the past 60 years.
