Sigh, bread out and smaller kid napping, thought I might get a chance to catch up on grading (spring break) but now the older one is awake. Alas. Back to work!
I’m with your wife on the faith thing- that’s why arguing with someone about religion is pointless.
Religion is based on something that doesn’t need a logical argument to be true. It’s like my arguments with my mother about her gut feelings being statistically wrong wrong wrong; it isn’t actually an argument, because we’re playing under different sets of rules – I think she should base her arguments on facts, and she thinks she should act according to her amorphous inner sense of what she should do.
Now, you could argue about whether or not x belief system was internally consistent (for example, I try to point out that basing her work as a nurse on wishy washy mumbo jumbo shit would kill people), but you couldn’t argue that their beliefs were invalid for them on the grounds of being unprovable.
You can’t cheat in an open marriage, and you can’t argue logically with a faith-based belief system. It isn’t a criticism of it (though it renders it invalid for me and my own worldview), just a fact.
I’ll try the foil idea.

“CHiller- Try putting the pan on a piece of aluminum foil – shiny side out.”
Make sure it’s heavy gauge foil.
Aluminum hats don’t work as well as Tin
in making hats.
…and don’t bother making antennae,
you’ll only attract more attention. ;o)
re: loaf, the foil thing is a good idea, or try sitting it on a stone, which should help with the base, at least.
rob, why do you want to stay in chelsea on your ID?

Rob, Be a big boy and go to the DMV site and figure it out.
He hung up. I dashed out to talk to him but he’d gone. (My phone number’s on my door bell.) That’s how I ended up talking to neighbors.
