A friend gave me that book by Christopher Hitchens (for some reason ha) when she was moving to Houston. I have to say I gave it to the library (or the NYSD, I forget). Once I met an old philosophy professor….at the Manhattan Plaza swim club, of all places. We were bobbing in the pool and did the whole “how have YOU BEEN blah blah blah”
and started talking about well, philosophy, and I told him about my new commitment to my old faith, and he tilted his head, smiling and said “well, there are alternative ways of understanding the universe”. He was firmly aetheist.
It is part of an honest evaluation of what you really believe.
Oh, I forgot, I don’t discuss religion.
Dawkins said he felt outmatched when someone argued in counter-point how morality meant nothing without God. He later said Sam Harris resolved that issue for him.
