I’m very chary here of any reduction in ilitary spending. That said I’d like to see the numbers and how they would change if we were out of iraq & Afghanistan.
I don’t agree with Christopher Hitchens on the subject of God, but I give him alot of credit for making his case in a reasoned and respectful way (as opposed to that idiot Bill Maher).
A few months ago I saw him (on CSPAN) debate his book at a forum that was sponsored by a conservative Christian group. It was a civilized debate on all sides.
Dawkins it is! I just answered my own question after reading the following (on Dawkins), “…Prospect magazine voted him among the top three public intellectuals in the world (along with Umberto Eco and Noam Chomsky).”
This is so funny,
remember you mentioned last week that someone in your office said something like:
“gee, I didn’t know you had such a big package?”
I just got a call from a bank that I’m doing business with and there’s a young woman with a sexy voice telling me she hasn’t received the package.
So I tell her that I haven’t sent it and it should be going out early next week.
In what I swear sounded like a bedroom voice she says,
“ok, well I’ll be waiting for your…package.”
I did everything I could not to laugh out loud,
and I think she realized how it sounded too.
Any Atheists in the house? Would you recommend The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins and/or God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything by Christopher Hitchens? I’ve been wanting to read both for a long time.

“Emmimen could play Rob”
Great casting call, m4l.

Of the New Atheists, I would say God Delusion is the best. Letter to A Christian Nation by Sam Harris is also very good.
I preferred the Hitchens – the Dawkins was pretty boring even though I’d looked forward to reading it.
lech,
I watched, but it’s a still image
and I can’t get sound here.
What does he say? …or should I wait to watch at home?
donatella,
lol, I’m not sure where I heard that term, but it’s a good substitute for AssHat.
