We were asked to answer that question about morality in my college philosophy class. I was one of the few who decided to say yes, there can be morality without G-d. Got an A plus for my answer. I will never understand those who claim you can’t be moral unless you believe in G-d. Not trying to start a fight here- but it is such a wrong headed notion.

I’m an atheist, but I don’t feel the need or desire to read books about it.
On the other hand, I do go to a UU church, so I keep up with liberal theology that way.
If you like Eco, I think you’d enjoy Calvino. (I must admit I don’t see drawing a line to Chomsky from Eco.)
