Juliette Binoche still owes me a personal apology for The English Patient.

I’ll probably foregive her on account of Damage though.

I have to leave here soon, but wanted to say a couple of things….

—Roosevelt Island – I went to my friends apartment there Friday after work for dinner. All I can say is WOW. They have an apartment right on the water that faces the East River on the West and looks down the East River on one entire side –south side — of the apartment. The whole west and east side were huge windows. The views were totally unobstructed — 19th Fl — and the River, the lights, the movement of lights from Manhattan, just beautiful. They also have no buildings that height near them, so they have all the windows uncovered and the night city floods into their house. Incredibly beautiful. I saw nothing of the island, really, their apartment building is just as you get off the bridge. It is River Road and the complex of buildings is LANDMARKED (from the 1970s).

–Went to see Certified Copy at BAM on Saturday night. I highly recommend this movie..

It is with Juliette Binoche and was released in France last year. Afterward went to what used to be Thomas Biesl, Berlyn, very nice.

Odd, though. A lot of companies close their Manhattan offices, not NJ or CT, because carrying costs are greater & taxes (pace, dibs) are higher.

arkady, telcom industry has been brutal since 2000 so was mentally expecting this to come sooner or later. besides, we’ve been firing folks left and right so this is nothing new. Plus I’ve been a good squirrel – saving up nuts for this
