i actually agree with DIBS. Things are kinda crummy, but nowhere near really systemically horrible.
And even really horrible wouldn’t affect as many people as severely as one might think. There was an interesting piece on npr’s planet money podcast about Japan and how hard it is to actally do severe damage to a major modern economy.
“If I were the mayor of Detroit, I would send a personally-signed “Well Done” card to any long-term unemployed person who left my town to seek a job or better prospects. They are moving on with their life, and I could concentrate on creating policies that create long-term growth, rather than running a job-killing welfare state.”
Fine benson- pay my way so I can leave because job-hunting for over 2 years, subsisting on unemployment (now done) and freelance work that I can find has depleted everything I have. Think it’s cheap to pull up stakes? Try it with no money.
I am sick and tired of this fucking attitude some of you have that poor people, or jobless folk have done something wrong and deserve the position they are in. I’ve more than paid my dues and taxes to this country. so I would be pleased if certain of you would just STFU. And here’s a shocker for you- never been on welfare, ain’t doing it. Excuse me for having life happen.Because it does.
Kens, me too. if the best buy and radio shack doesnt have the damn ipad2, am ordering it online – ie already wasted lots of time & gas looking for it at various locations
MM, 167 concord St.
Forgottten NY has some info, supposedly used in the Underground railroad.
You’d prolly do it more justice with Building of the Day (hint, hint).

“The biggest asset that a kid can have is a couple of parents who really love them.”
That’s what I’m banking on. I can’t buy the kid lots of things but give him lots of hugs and kisses.
