  1. “Lech, did you remind the attendees of 1 of our hard rules – at minimum, disclose your REAL first name. No exceptions”

Does one need to disclose one’s real name to get a seat?

That’s cool. It’s that like knowing the secret knock to get into Chumley’s or the secret handshake to get into the Royal Order of Water Buffaloes.

  2. I don’t loose any sleep over the pledge – it’s just something I get minor annoyance from.

I also get annoyed by our national anthem, which is also due to thinking that the country puts too much into the symbolism of the flag.

  3. Dave, the Chef told me that the Serrano they get is much better that the two you listed. He said it is so fattening and juicy that it melts the minute it touches your tongue. He said he shopped around all over before choosing this one. Maybe it’s the more expensive Serrano version, who knows.

  4. The Census articles linked on Brownstoner were interesting. Brooklyn population rose by 39,000 people. Very little change in NYC overall (up 167,000 I think). There is an interactive map which shows street by street change in demographics and racial composition and colors (brownish to show population loss and light blue to dark blue to show gains). For Brooklyn, it probably wouldn’t surprise us to know that Downtown Brooklyn north of Atlantic increased sharply, as did Williamsburg and Bed Sty. Bed Sty white population up 600 pct, Williamsburg white population up 1100 pct. According to the census, there were areas of depopulation in Queens, but demographers say that this reflects areas of new immigration where people would not be counted, but officially vacant apartments were up 59% in Queens. And Manhattan and Brooklyn were only counties with populations over 1,000,000 where white populations went UP. This in the country. It is interesting to see the on a granular basis where racial movements were too. Also, Buffalo lost 11% of its population over the last 10 years…

  5. “Given that it wasn’t written until late 1800s, it would’ve been difficult for it to have been recited much before that.”

According to the Brownstoner clock, it was actually written in the early 1900s.

  6. OK, maybe not so much Ireland, but quite an improvement there from late ’80s to mid ’00s.

OK, dibs poses a supremely important question. Which musical group should replace the current 9 judges on our nation’s highest court?
