Thanks, Gem and etson. Yeah, I can understand how somebody could get really mad like that, but I really like this guy. He is very cute person, originally from the Dominican Republic and had the smarts to identify this area as really needing this service. He came down from Washington Heights. I decided to talk it over tomorrow after work and to ask him to compensate me. Also, for him, to be aware that something went very wrong. Do that enough times to enough people and he is toast.
gem…a car can fit down the strret and stop to unload but it’s not a “through street” The street is actually cobblestone on the sides for carriage wheels
Dibs – when I do a google map search on that street -it’s SO adorable – but it seems to me that the streets are really narrow, too narrow for cars – am I right?
Denton: We also hear good things about Asheville. Anyone been there?
Denton, this is one place that I really want to see! I once sat on a plane next to a lovely guy who told me that he moved from NY to Ashville. He was transitioning from running a company in NY (said he lost control of co) to retirement and decided on moving to Ashville because it is a gorgeous place and you can live very well there. There was no reason for him, post company, to stay in NY.
Since then I have always wanted to go. It is an artsy place, lots of visual artists, ceramic artists (great clay there), music, antique places, nice houses and you are in the mountains! I have looked at houses on line and they look pretty nice.
Ugh, just read your drycleaner story, dona. That’s horrible. I hope he compensatea you – he should.
When I lived on the UES, someone that’d had problems with a drycleaner put posters up all over the neighborhood and flyers under windshield wipers detailing how much they sucked.
Not sure if that was the reason but they did close down a few months later.
Haven’t been to Fonthill & Mercer

Dona: the dude has insurance so make sure you don’t scrimp on the values.
