Bxgrl and others,
I am sorry if I struck a religious nerve, but please list any other country in the world that we give more too and get less back from over the last 50 years.
Legion,
How would it be “selling out” or “religious” to treat Israeli democracy like any other democracy in the world?
I actually think US is doing Middle East a favor by supporting Israel as they interfere in their decisions as well. Israelis are trigger happy and with U.S. not behind them and in their business, they might start blowing up countries around them to bits every chance they get.
Not nearly as tiresome as your constant, daily Obama bashing, dave. Pot, kettle, black.
Note also- I didn’t blame the Libyan situation on Bush- that’s your feeble attempt to make an argument out of nothing. Then again, Bush always loved war- yeah, he’d be putting other people’s sons, daughters and relatives boots on the ground so he could puff himself up in the deck of an aircraft carrier. I never heard you complain about that bit of puffery.
“What about geography? Or do we have other allies close enough?”
In terms of geography, Israel is close to useless to the the U.S., since they do not have any U.S. Military or logistics facilities. They are also not friendly to U.S. companies operating large facilities there.
Israel also does not control any important trade routes or natural resources.
The U.S. has large military bases in Turkey, which is 400 miles away from Israel, as well as numerous other countries along the Mediterranean.

“CGar, did you read our late (last) night posts to you and did you fall asleep? :-/”
prezanon, I did, thanks, but I didn’t. I refer you to my 9:09am post. ^ ^ ^ I am beyond exhausted right now.

There is another MAJOR reason to maintain the relations with israel….when it becomes necessary, THEY wil fire the first missiles at Iran.

Even if Israel was a “religious” decision.
Selling out the Israeli democracy would be a religious decision by default.
Think about it.
“I’d rather let the enemies of the US give in to our demands.”
Legion for President!!!!!
bxgrl,
Admit it,
Obama has put us into a war for oil without an exit strategy.
At least Iraq is a functional democracy.
