President Trump
Would also have a real exit strategy:
He could offer uncooperative despots an
apartment in a Trump building
(but only the ones in Brooklyn)
Amazing- Bush was a “strong” leader (and look where he got us) but Obama is weak- yes, because a nuanced approach, designed to repair the damage Bush did, is “weak.” You guys are so funny- if McCain was doing what Obama is with Libya, you people would be jumping up and down calling him “strong,” and babbling about his leadership qualities. Bush a strong leader? Yes- like a bull in a china shop is a strong leader.
Dave, but isn’t one of the chief issues the ME has with us is our occupation of Arab lands? Showing leadership or not, the actual action isn’t favored.
“Or are you just arguing the Israel can defend itself?”
I have doubts that Isreal can defend itself, but they have certainly suprised people before.
Either way, I do not think that the US has any obligation to prop up Israel. They trend to take us for granted and treat us like crap, but we give them more money than any other country.
Our relationship with Israel is a clear case of the US basing its foreign policy on religion, not strategy, and it has costs us in many ways over the decades.
Unfortunately, I do agree with Benson that we can’t just abandon Israel for the the reasons he stated and others. I do think that a slow distancing would be a good thing.
“what the Arab world respects above all else is firm leadership and power.”
And it ain’t the USA….thanks to Bush
I don’t think you actually understand. The rest of the world population may have despised Bush but the leadership of the rest of the world respected the fact that he did what he said he would do and he stood by it.
A superpower does need to weild a bit of fear to remain a superpower.
“I wish there was more real estate porn on this site.”
DeLepp has become about as effective as Obama in his duties.

I reaaaaally need chocolate now. I went down earlier but it was raining so we didn’t go. Is it still?

petty dictator’s asses.
He’s be all like: You’re fired asswipe!

combover.
