Jessi- I’ve said many times I don’t support a lot of Israel’s policies these days. Between the Palestinians and the Ultraorthodox right wingers in the Israeli government, it all sucks. SO I do feel the US should not be so generous until Israel remembers we are supposed to be partners.
Legion- true, and they do provide valuable ME intelligence. Plus as Kens points out- they are certainly ready to defend themselves and our interests, such as they are. They still need to do more to protect our interests.
“I’d rather let the enemies of the US give in to our demands.”
Legion for President!!!!!
Thanks benson,
I know you don’t mean President of the OT?
I don’t think I have the popular support for that. :o(

“How would it be “selling out” or “religious” to treat Israeli democracy like any other democracy in the world?”
It would be a sell out because we have much more in common with Israel than those who would call for it’s demise, namely the Iranian Theocracy.
It would be religious, by default, in that it would signal to the world an abandonment of US middle east policy and ceding of power to those forces who have used the Israeli issue as their raison d’etre for decades.
I return to my point about Israel: to create any perception that we have caved in wrt our support for them would be the “Munich Agreement” of our time. It would not bring peace, it would embolden our enemies, just like the Munich agreement.
Israel gave up Gaza. What did they get for that gesture of peace, other than rockets coming down on their homes?
Useless, BHS? You know very little about Israeli intelligence, then.
Legion- Iraq was a war for oil – unlike Libya, which is a limited operation supposedly. Where were all the screams about no war for oil when Bush went into Iraq? Because you must admit, what other reason was there?
Amazing- Bush was a “strong” leader (and look where he got us) but Obama is weak- yes, because a nuanced approach, designed to repair the damage Bush did, is “weak.” You guys are so funny- if McCain was doing what Obama is with Libya, you people would be jumping up and down calling him “strong,” and babbling about his leadership qualities. Bush a strong leader? Yes- like a bull in a china shop is a strong leader.
Scott, do you not like Israel because of its policies towards Palestinians or is it because you feel it’s not worth the negatives that result from our involvement there?
Allow me to point out that while Isreal may not be of great geographical significance.
It is well known that the Stuxnet virus that has the Iranian nuclear weapons project stuck on stupid,
was a JOINT effort between our Israeli allies and the US.

I’d call that a Bush rant.
