  1. Scott;
Well isn’t that enough? What the heck have the French or Germans done for us, other than sipping espresso and spouting politically-correct Bush-hatred while we provide a defense umbrella for them?

The French has done little for us, although they have often been cooperative in the U.N security council.

The Germans are a large key to the U.S. military in Europe and the Middle East, through our bases there and the huge amount of logistics the Germans supply in getting resources too and from the Middle East.

I don’t think either of them deserve or have gotten nearly unilateral support from the U.S.

If we could turn the clock back 50 years, I think the U.S. should have cultivated an even stronger relationship with Turkey. I also feel that without the baggage of our role in the Israel conflicts, the U.S. would have cultivated better relationships with other Arab countries, and would probably have had a de-facto client state or two much sooner that Kuwait.

Can’t we find a better topic to discuss?

Anyone have any embarrassing photos out there they want to talk about.

  2. Simple question to President Obama’s supporters: do you think he has shown leadership in Libyan incident? I’m not asking about Bush, I’m not asking if you think if the Libyan strategy is correct. I’m asking about President Obama in this situation.

    Leader?

If you think yes, I would ask: how has he shown leadership?

  3. “However, I do not think it is unreasonable to reduce our future investment and/or expect them to give the U.S. more in return for what we give them.”

That i can agree with to a point. Of late Israel has made serious mistakes. And I do think we should expect more from them. That said, what legion and benson posted is the crux of the issue for our relationship with Israel.

  4. sorry about my inattentiveness but I’ve been engaged with powder and the hoity toity(sp?)

    How about a tasteless joke?

When I go I want to go like my grandfather, in his sleep, not screaming like the passengers in his car.

Israel is a result of the British Mandate & the Balfour Decision, not US policy

    Arkady,
That’s like buying a house and claiming you built it.
Without the US there would be no Israel.
In 1947, the British were hardly in a position to build nations. Of course they had an intellectual role but to say it is not a result of US policy is a typical short changing of American accomplishments.
