    “a $10 sushi special at a hole in the wall in midtown manhattan.”

    Are there any midtown Japanese glory holes with $10 specials?

    The whole dynamics of the adult bookstore/video store have changed markedly. Although there are still places with glory holes, most now have “buddy booths” where you have to inser $1 and then if the guy on the other side also inserts $1 and you both press the button to raise the screen, then you can see each other. There is also a convenient opening at the bottom, just below waist level for things to be passed through.

    On the other hand, places now have a more privat “upstairs” where tou pay $10-15 to enter and the booths are still there but 2 people can go in together without being hassled, as you would be (thrown out) if you did that oon just the glory hole or buddy booth level.

    But there’s no such thing as a $10 glory hole, unless the guy on the other side wants $10 for whatever service or goods he may be providing

    I can arrange a tour of these places if anyone is interested.

  2. Lech;

    We bought our living room furniture, including the couch, from Ethan Allen six years ago. It has held up very well.

    Also, if you purchase over a certain amount at EA, they offer a free interior design service to help you with paint colors, drapes, etc.

  3. I really like Crate & Barrel (generally hate CB2 though). My last couch, which I had for for 10+ years came from them, as did my current couch up here & sofabed in PS.
    Pottery Barn is v. overpriced for what it is IMO.

  4. Lech, just a guess, but I imagine that your wife cares more than you do about the style of the couch. The best thing is to look in magazines or on line for styles, materials, etc. I am guessing that you are not looking for a delicate (or poorly made) piece of furniture with young kids. Pottery Barn, Room and Board, a number of retailers have stuff on line to look at. Then when you narrow it down to a basic style, size, material, you look for a sale. The good department stores like Bloomies might be a place to look for something on sale.

    I bought my stuff at Castro Convertibles!! Now defunct. One love seat and one pull out couch.
