  1. I think that whenever there’s bargaining by public unions whether they be subway, state or local government, that the people should be represented at the table as well by some sort of independent person, not some elected official who is in their pockets, most likely a democrat.

In the case of the transit strike, management should have had the wherewithall to run the trains. I think Roger Toussaint or whatever he=is name is should have had something done to him just short of assassination.

  2. why no posts here yet about any of the celebrate brooklyn! stuff being announced?.

tired of bullshitting here, and having to go to eater/gothamist/brookyln vegan to actually find anything out.

  3. Dona – (at 2:42 pm), yes, when those muscles pull on the rib cage, it is exceedingly painful and one could think it is a heart attack or something worse. I have since learned this rib/muscle condition is somewhat common. Perhaps I’d recognize it if I saw it again, or at least suspect it. (It didn’t happen to me but someone close.) In our case, the chiropractor gave the most relief – easing the muscles to relieve the rib cage. Also, I read in a chiropractor’s newspaper column about how this thing happens. They deal with it all the time.

And, dona, a month off and travel to all those places may be just what a doctor would order. I hope you have a great time! Will be thinking of you on the beach…

Oh, I am sorry about your parents. That is a rough one.

  4. Thanks, 11217. Sounds very cool. It would be nice if they sold their cultures, but I guess that would be bad for business. Well, maybe not if they also sold the cute little containers and stuff. Maybe just do it once around the holidays.

    Cool website, too.

  5. 11217…it just hasn’t been very crowded…they lost the two sushi chefs and the owner was behind the bar but they’ve now hired 2 new ones.

I’m just coincerned that business has been slow for them.

  6. dibs- benefits, I believe.

BHS- oddly enough I agree with what you said in principle but I feel that way about taxes I pay also. And again- I really am not a lover of unions, but I do see their necessity.

  7. I am not generally pro-union & detest enforced membership such as for teachers. I am for collective bargaining & democratic ‘will of the people’ which in WI translates to support for the unions. Walker did an end-run, autocratic power play.
