I heard a 7-Day Adventist on TV talking about the unclean foods. (7-Days are big on the dietary thing, and possibly don’t even drink coffee. I don’t know exact details.) Anyway the guy was explaining why certain foods are unclean, such as sea creatures that are bottom-feeders and feed on the feces of other fish. He also said the reason pigs are unclean is because they do not have sweat glands for removal of the toxins they eat. Previously, I had heard that one just had to cook pork more thoroughly and it would be okay. After seeing that explanation, I pay attention to those things. Even though we eat other junk food :-/
Pete – re: Williamsburg. My first thought for you is to eat at Fiore on Grand Street.
If you don’t want Italian, lemme know and I’ll think of something else. Maybe Walter Foods, also on Grand, but more snooty.
