  1. “In general, it seems like the most stable societies in world right now are also the least religious (Japan, Western Europe), while the least stable are the most religious (Africa, Middle East).”

Alright, alright. Mercy. My flaw was assuming that people who don’t believe in anything felt as unhinged as I do. And a nation of people like me would not be a very good place to live. I got it now, just because you’re an atheist, doesn’t mean you’re like me (smoke some salvia and you will be, though)

  2. “My initial point was only this, a nation full of confused and unhinged people (even if their still living a basically moral life) are gonna have more problems in the long run than one where the people have faith. This is because they would be more susceptible to thinking life was pointless.”

Jessi- you’re making a bunch of very bad assumptions. As a agnostic and a Jew you should know better. I’m also agnostic and my take is this- if there is a G-d, fine. But even if not, I’m here for whatever amount of time, and I am part of an amazing universe, so life is not pointless whether or not G-d exists. It becomes pointless when you can’t appreciate life for the miracle it is. I don’t know how the universe was created, or life- but the fact that it, and we exists is miracle enough.

Religious people are the first to use the my way or the highway approach- too many religions think only they have the right answers, so everyone else is expendable. THAT is far more likely to cause chaos, and misery.

  3. “You wore a loin cloth made out of squirrel or some other viscous animal you killed.”

Viscous animal? Like a jellyfish? Woah, Letch, you were living more dangerously than I thought!

  4. About to check off, but what evidence is there that religion keep socialites together?

In general, it seems like the most stable societies in world right now are are also the least religious (Japan, Western Europe), while the least stable are the most religious (Africa, Middle East).
