  1. Don’t know enough about the candidates yet to make a call. The two possibles I did like now both said they aren’t running.
I agree with Romney on most things but don’t like him. Would definitely vote for him, and possibly make a small contribution, but he’s not someone I’d feel very enthusiastic about.

  2. Huckabee is popular with a vocal group of dopes; sort of how Ron Paul is (it’s a tie as to which group is worse). I don’t think Huckabee (or Palin, for that matter) is doing anything other than bluffing to keep his income high.

Bottom line: however horrible and destructive he is, Obama has the media to #$%@^# him. A Republican can win, but it will be an uphill battle. Romney, at least can raise the amount of money and has the organizational skills to get close.

Maybe Romney/West. Alan West is fantastic, and he would peel off a chunk of voters who would vote for Obama because of his color. West could eventually run for President.

  3. “It’s just irresistible to pop the happy bubble of Brooklyn liberals (and let a bit of reality in). ”

Let us know when you figure out what reality is.

“Being anti-gay marriage is not homophobic–it just makes you feel superior to think so.” Sadly for you, feeling superior and being superior are two vastly different concepts. One is fantasy and one is reality. You’re still living the dream, so to speak, not the reality.

  4. Romney is certainly the choice of limosine conservatives but
since republican party has made a pack with the nut-wingers -who has big trouble with Romney and won’t make it thru the primaries. Especially now with tea-baggers and bible-thumpers.
But agree would have better chance with total general population.

  5. politically – I think Christie should wait. Earn his stripes in NJ, turn NJ around and be a huge success – then run in 2016 – he would probably win for sure b/c beating obama will be tough for the GOP – they are a mess!

Arkady – yes they do regular shipping as well

  6. “Christie as VP would be a waste of time for him. He should either run or just wait.”

That’s certainly argument. Of course, the counterargument is that if he can help a sane President win, he can run later; if Obama wins, there may not be an America of which to be President four years later.

  7. So I think Romney, with his deep private sector successes, has a shot. Maybe with Christie as VP? Or Jan Brewer of AZ?”

Not if you read the pollings in his own party. Huckabee comes out on top (UGH!)

Jan Brewer? Hahahahahahahha. And Christie? Yeah- what a great personality for national office. Not.
