Ok, I have no idea why I’m getting in the middle of this but mopar’s words didn’t strike me as condescending or lecturing or malicious, etc. I truly felt she was trying to give helpful advice.
I was actually surprised at the backlash to what she said, but I respect the negative reactions cobblehiller and others had to it and maybe I would have had the same reaction if I had posted something about looking for a job and then received unsolicited advice. I just went back and read all of mopar’s posts and, at the end of the day, I do still feel her intentions were good and she meant no harm.
“And I just read this. What are you referring to?”
I’m referring to the fact that you hadn’t acknowledged that I had responded to your comments in the OT last night – comments which I found upsetting and insulting. Or as yet hadn’t made any statement, at that point.
Thanks, THL. I was fired in 2001 and out of work for four years.
Also, I am getting kind of freaked out by the comments about the sleeves. My post had to do with my happiness at receiving some books Montrose had recommended in another post and a photo that Charles Lockwood had posted on here. I was saying I was wrong about my comments about the date of the photo. In any case, people post all kinds of odd things on here in the Open Thread about what they had for breakfast or whatever so it didn’t seem inappropriate. Did it sound like I was lecturing because of my comments yesterday about job hunting or was there some other thread about Victorian clothing that I missed? I’m really confused and I don’t mean anyone any harm and I feel like I’m being attacked for something I didn’t say.
I also have to leave here pretty soon so if I don’t reply tonight that’s why. It’s nothing personal.
Biff, when I read your posts it’s like she’s typing them from a male perspective and yeah, she’s like crazy smoking hot. Seriously, I look like a fat hobbit standing next to her.
“Do they let girls do that?”
Come on, THL. It’s 5769! Jewish women have many more opportunities these days to have careers they could only have dreamed about back in 5739.
I’m not going to debate my feelings or impressions.

O.k…it’s Sloppy Joe time.
No BRG, my husbands name is NOT Joe!
Have a great night everyone.

“Who hired the schiksa mohel?”
Biff, when I read your posts it’s like____________.
I will stay quiet.
