  1. A friend of mine who lives near a recently opened bar had her front door totally trashed by someone last night – hinges sprung, glass broken, etc. so I was feeling raw when I read that piece. My feeling is that that Flatbush bar will engender the same behavior. 200 5th & the other spots mentioned seem to have pretty well-behaved clientele.

  2. I feel for Cgar and CDog. What a heartache. I’m looking at my 18 year old cat, Moose and I think he hasn’t much time either- all I can do is hope I can make it as pain free and easy for him. Cgar is a good man with a huge heart.

  3. Arkady… 🙂

Btw, did *Rob* just pull off the unthinkable? Unless my geography is way off, it seems he got you in the Slopers Rally Against Alleged ‘Gentleman’s Club’ thread!

  4. Also, rf – just a few facts from Bloomberg’s piece in the Times:

“In Wisconsin, efforts to rein in spending on labor contracts have included proposals to strip unions of their right to collectively bargain for pensions and health care benefits.”

So while Dave is correct in that Wisconsin gov does not seek to end collective bargaining for wages, to leave out the fact that he is trying to eliminate it for pensions and health care is not to tell the whole story. Wages, pensions and healthcare are what make up the benefits package and what I’m guessing are most critical to workers.

  5. Majority in Poll Back Employees in Public Sector Unions

As labor battles erupt in state capitals around the nation, a majority of Americans say they oppose efforts to weaken the collective bargaining rights of public employee unions and are also against cutting the pay or benefits of public workers to reduce state budget deficits, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

  6. rf, it was nice of you to ask about CDog. I passed it on to CGar. CDog seemed to thoroughly enjoy the company of CGar’s sister and clearly recognized her. Unfortunately, while CDog doesn’t appear to be suffering, it looks like the end is near and it’s likely CGar won’t be on the blog for a couple of days.
