  1. and i think the underlying cause of this is the cost of higher education.

when in the HELL did it require someone to take out 200k+ of debt to be anything anymore?

if you go to law school you almost HAVE to work at a big firm just to be able to afford the loan payments.

    aren’t most universities considered non-profits?

NYU is basically a glorified real estate development company, with some schools on the side to save on taxes.

meanwhile their students come out only half as dumb as they were with the most debt of anyone in the country!

  2. Biff, you’re obviously a very talented guy, and you work in banking.

I think I am too, and I’m pretty much doing the same thing (lawyering for bankers).

We’re both part of the problem.

  3. DH is on a roll. I agree with everything he said. If I had any talent, I would be “inventing shit and curing diseases”, not making bad puns on the OT while working with soulless wankers at The Death Star. Trying to weigh my options as I enter the dark depths of my mid-life crisis.

  4. “DH, when banks pay 10x or more than typical engineering gig, no surprise where the talent goes.”

yeah – exactly. system is broken.

you would think employers who are creating shit and saving millions of lives would be the ones who could pay the high salaries.
