“DH, this was Reagan’s plan back in the day. He figured if you just starve the guvment by reducing taxes, it would go away. Unfortunately the guvment found that it was easier to borrow money than to go away, resulting in a massive deficit. ”
ah yeah – i’ve heard of this reagan character. isn’t he like the best president ever though? lots of people got rich when he was in office, right?
this is depressing to read that most of you who make a lot of $ aren’t willing to pay higher taxes yet us poor folks are willing to – this is what is wrong with the US
I think you just figured out the answer of why people with more money have it. Congrats.
Also, I beg to differ with you that most “poor folks” are willing to do so.

yeah – pretty much. WHEN i’m in that tax bracket, i would have no problem paying a little more.
and i still don’t get how the right is so pro-cutting taxes for the rich, but the majority of the states they control are very poor. it doesn’t make sense to me.
“jessi, you seem to have an acute form of this Obamanomics where if you don’t do something you should be fined either directly or through taxes.â€
No – it’s more like if you’re gonna use one reason to justify a change, you should back it up with real action. No bait and switch. People said, if you cut my taxes, I will give more money to private non-profits. Well, if taxes were cut with the understanding that the public would do more privately to help those in need, then if they don’t back it up with money – they should let the feds do it their way.
denton, the reason we failed at those recent endeavors was because we did not use our true firepower. Since WWII, tha NAMBY PAMBIES have been in charge. If we’re going to go after someone, we should be able to do it with air strikes and cruise missiles, we don’t need any troops on the ground.
We also need a stronger show of force in the Pacific nowadays. You’d be surprised at what China’s doing that doesn’t get a lot of press.
“because the gov’t spends money inefficiently
we should give them less money”

“easy for those who have money to say”
Easy for anyone that doesn’t see themself as a dependant of the government to say.

g10, I never said that. But I am enjoying pointing it out, however 🙂
Personally, I would be willing to pay higher taxes to fund a health plan that covers everyone.
Please, everyone, continue paying your taxes. We public educators need money to teach the kids who will be in our shoes next. 🙂
