One of the nuttier columnists on MarketWatch has been on this theme for a while.
If it ever were to happen (v.unlikely IMO), like most revolutions, it would depend which way the army / national guard jumps.
“Medicare/Medicade, Social Security and Defense. Obviously THATS where we can afford to cut some fat (DEFENSE?!?!?)”
Agree that all of these should be addressed. Defense procurement has lots of waste.
g10, if people are going to blow the money anyway, that’s the problem – culturally this country might not have what it takes to be self sufficient. moment people have a few bucks on the pocket they spend it and “rainy day fund” is just lip service. people dont HAVE to own a residence, buy a car, take a nice vacation, etc. – too many people in this country feel entitled to that shit. and not being able to own a house, car, or nice vacation is NOT POOR. poor is living in a crap small rental, barely enough money for food & clothing,…

if people cannot own property and take vacations and enjoy their time outside of work – what’s the fuckin point?
Perhaps, denton. But when the stock market is going up I spend more money on alcohol and hustlers. The rest i tend to waste.
