  1. bxgrl, much harder for a kid to be placed in the position of being an “only,” looked at as the spokesperson for his group/race. Although I am not saying that the suburbs are good or bad, with kids I think the parents really have to look at the group of families in their category and see if they feel comfortable there, and as an interracial family there are many issues to consider. But in the city the melting pot/golden mosaic is a given. It’s been a really good experience for my kid as an atypical Chinese kid growing up with a white mom in majority African-American neighborhoods, going to schools where she was in the racial majority. At Tech she’s learned a lot from the South Asian kids, a group she didn’t really know before.

  2. No BHS, yo’re getting it wrong!! The right thing is not to limit myself, it’s to fight the urge to go home and get another long night of uninterrupted sleep like some boring middle aged sack of marbles. I have to go be irresponsible somewhere!!!!! Drink!!!!!! Rage!!!!!!!!!! Wooooooo-hooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
