  1. I’m not asking about up close vs far away bxgrl – I’m saying you get the exact same experience from a copy as you do from an original as long as you BELIEVE it is the original.

  2. “you weren’t right on the brownstones” – By donatella on February 22, 2011 1:06 PM

Neither was Ludwig von Mises during the 20’s on the impending Great Depression. YET! Non-seasonably adjusted NY Case-Shiller Index just read 167.86, the lowest it’s been since March 2004! We’re now down to -22% below peak (almost halfway!). YOY keeps diving into the second dip. Brownstones went up +200% with NY Case-Shiller from the 90’s trough to the ’06 peak, brownstones will go down with the index from the ’06 peak (215.83) to the 10’s trough (target 100). (100-215.83/215.83 = -54%. When, not if.

The whole world is bankrupt. Even the biggest banks without legalized accounting fraud. Margins are getting steamrolled. Civil unrest is growing. This is the greatest depression.

“BHO, when we missed on Lebron, I was predicting Melo coming in off-season and 2nd guess being a trade but cheap price. Did not foresee it coming at this steep price. were you predicting it?” – By more4less on February 22, 2011 1:07 PM

Oh absolutely! I knew even the kitchen sink was going. We’re talking ‘mello. CARMELLO ANTHONY. Next up: Chris Paul or Deron Williams. The league is lopsided to the east like a mofo, Allstar Game notwithstanding.

  3. The unions agreed to the cuts Walker asked for, and to pay in more money to their pensions and health insurance. That was never a problem. But he’s trying to bust the unions and that’s why they’re fighting. Walker seems like a pretty ugly guy himself.

  4. The most awestruck I ever saw someone by a piece of art was a Japanese man at the Lincoln Memorial one summer. It was about 96 degrees out and bright sunshine. He was staring at the statue like it was god or something. Actuslly the whole crowd just milled about silently.

  5. “Artwork? If you believe it’s an original, you’re there. It can be completely fake and you still get that satisfaction you’re seeking.”

Deep question of the day: Is it the same with love?

  6. lech- I honestly don’t know how to answer that question. I think art work must be seen up close for the most part- of course that let’s out the Sistine Chapel, but that was meant to be seen from a distance, in any case. But there is no joy in looking at a beautiful painting such as the Mona Lisa from 20 feet away. On the other hand, the fact that it exists is a joy in itself. Basically, I think a museum is dishonest to display a copy of an artwork. That is not a museum’s function- to display copies.

  7. Gee that’s the way it’s supposed to be, Kens. I was talking about the Mona Lisa too. I wonder if was a matter of the particular guards on duty. This was in 2006 I think.

Legion, yeah, I would have been pretty funny. I was a little over the top haha….they were definately freaked out.
