“Exactly. What’s the point of knowing that you don’t really have any idea what the truth is if that just makes you miserable? If your goal is to be happy, then just be blissfully ignorant and enjoy the “original” mona lisa.â€
Problem is this: what if you think you’ve seen the real mona lisa and everyone else knows you just saw the copy? You think your husband loves you but the gang all knows he’s a cheater. It’s embarrassing even if you don’t know about it. I would hate if other people knew stuff about me that I would find important. It’s embarrassing.
I am too sober to be having these real/fake reality is perception type conversations. I move we put them on hold until I can get myself to a bar.
Wisconsin is interesting. The governor is certainly being a hard-ass, but that’s what he promised to be before getting elected.
I don’t agree with my liberal friends that think the world will end if this plan goes through, since it already matches the reality in many other states.
It is certainly a key battleground in the near-term future of benefits and unions for public employees, since it will set the tone for other states.
On a personal note, my wife has taught in 2 “right to work” states and 2 “union shop” states. There did not seem to be a big difference in how teachers were treated or how schools were operated in either, although the benefits were better in the union ones.
Collective bargaining rights (for certain issues only, not basic wages) go or else thousands will be fired. it’s the stubborness and stupidity of the unions that allow for thousands of members to be fired.
The Democrats saying that it’;s the “will of the people” that they stay out don’t seem to understand that the majority of the people elected a republican governor and state assebly/senate.
Can anyone tell me with any absolute certainty that a piece of artwork they have seen in a museum is an original? Any piece at all. Even your own work, if that’s relevant.
BHO, you think we have cap room to sign 3rd star even under current CBA? by 2012 off-season, think Amare and Melo will be scheduled to make 44M. would we have cap space to sign 3rd star? or are you expecting them to sign for half off so they can play on Knicks? I just find it hard to believe knicks can have 3 stars and decent supporting cast while Miami trio too sizeable paycut and their supporting cast is only so so.
“List of things that exist for all practical purposes as long as you believe they do, and if you die not knowing any better, what’s the difference?”
1. Original artwork
2. Love
3. God

The list assumes that there is no other dimension to the concepts besides their physical and intellectual perception.
We’ve all heard of supernatural qualities attributed to certain works of art, to love throughout the ages and to God inherently.

dibs got 300
I wouldn’t walk a few extra soi (streets) in Bangkok to save a couple hundred Baht on a go go boy.

OK, fine, but if you *perceive* these qualities it doesn’t make them true. It just means you perceive them. It could all be a big fat hairy lie.

It’s not as cut and dry as you think, bxgrl.
