  1. cobble- it also depends on the artist. Even repaired the Pieta has not lost value. And the amount of damage will have an impact- say a famous painting is cut up and sold (Yes- it has been done) in pieces. You see that with antique tapestries as well.

  2. speaking of cheese, do you know that government cheese was a REAL thing? my grandmother used to sometimes go to this office where they handed out actual government cheese! it was a giant block of it in a cardboard box. great for grilled cheese sandwiches. does government cheese still exist? i was say this office handed out free bread too but that have been pretty ghetto to take.

  3. What’s to address? The Republicans like to bully everyone and the democrats decided not to be bullied.

The real question is why the governor is threatening the livelihoods of tens of thousands of people who have acceded to his budget requests but don’t want to give up their bargaining rights. He wants to show what a big man he is- so of course threaten the workers and then lay them off. He says no compromise. That’s a bs attitude in politics and business.

  4. It’s very hard to authenticate any piece of art by eye, and is why the provenance is so important.

DIBS, It’s not necessarily true that repaired work is worth less than if un-repaired. It depends on the repair, who did it, how they did it and why, and this is all documented carefully, if any restoration is done to a work.

  5. I don’t really care that much about the Wisconsin democrats hiding at this point. I’ve seen it done few times in other states I have lived in, and it was seen as an acceptable if extreme bargaining tool.

If they let it go on another week or two or did it every time there was a bill they disagreed with, then that would be a different matter.
