bxgirl, i bet you are okay with not having luxuries because you grew up without truly without needing. youve said you were poor growing up, but you never went without basic essentials. same as me. i never went without. so all the luxury stuff shoved down our throats doesnt appeal to me because of that. if you grew up lacking in the basic essentials, those luxuries shoved in front of your face become status symbols and you are more hungry for them, like REALLY hungry. rich people are hungry for them because they are so used to them, they can’t fathom what it would like to be to go without tho things that are totally unnecessary.
my overdose comment… not drug-related btw, just consumer related. if i had a ton of money id probably, sadly, buy every stupid thing out there even tho deep down i dont believe i would.
Thanks for that Jessi. WHen I go back I will tell them that I am a pilgrim.
And Bxgrl, I am not going to go back and forth with you. The difficulty for me, especially when I profess to be a Catholic is that I should and actually want to be nice/charitable to you. But you make it hard sometimes. Maybe you will see my point, maybe you won’t, maybe tomorrow you will be more simpatica, maybe not.
rob- I understand what you’re saying but I guess owning stuff isn’t the most important thing to me. As long as I have what I need, and I’m happy with where I am, I don’t need to own luxury items. It’s all just stuff- and you can’t take it with you anyway.
the problem with church, and most religions, other than Satanism (which is all about the hedonism) is that it tells you to be humble, etc blah blah blah. it flies in the face of what we are forced with in every other aspect of life. i dont want to go back to religious based society, but i sure as hell HATE very much what we are now when it comes to ubur consumerism and barfy faux bohemianism.
DIBS is probably about halfway through dinner at Per Se – which is probably the best restaurant in the US – probably top 10 in the world :-\
^^^ I little old ladied at Rob’s post, not Dona’s.
But it would be kinda funny if Dona lied about being a pilgrim to get into the church for free.

Rob, if you had a ton of money, what would you do with it?
