  1. “We did get a mediator”

Cmu – could you share a little about this experience? In my mind, working as a divorce mediator would be a good fit for me once I’m done paying off the law school debt. I also wonder if there are enough people with your level-headed approach out there that I would be able to make a living…

  2. >I took my money, he took his money, we cried a lot, and now we’re best friends
    >I got back at her by sleeping with her best friend.

Compare & contrast, with special reference to possibility of parties involved winding up in expensive litigation with sharky lawyers.

When we separated, I told my wife that I absolutely would never get a lawyer. We did get a mediator but only because she did not believe I just wanted to split the assets 50-50 and move on. I really believe that if keep your anger to yourself and approach it as a problem to be solved amicably, it will probably happen. People are too quick to run to lawyers.

  3. I have also seen a lot of resentment for past perceived crimes played out as post-divorce bickering. Hurts both ex-spouses, hurts the kids, looks completely irrational, but not exactly gold-digging.

“Does she want the money for herself? ”
I don’t know. I don’t think she would demand the kids trust money as that would just be stupid. No question she wants more money for herself, though. Why else go through this?

DCB, would she possibly be jealous that you have remarried, obtained a new residence and are moving on – so trying to get back at you? I have observed that divorcing people often try and succeed in hurting the other one financially. It often is *not* about money. It may be trying to even a (different) score. Do you know what that score is? Does she have more child-care responsibilities and less money to work with than you do? (Only trying to guess here.)

Consider sending her some roses. (don’t throw up)

baseball activity is about to start and it’s depressing to be a Mets Fan

You can always become a Yankee fan, M4L. Your loyalty is impressive. Of course, being a Yankee fan this year may be painful too. It is too early to tell.

  6. Disputes are ugliest when people do not clearly signal up front how far they are willing to go to get what they want.

Fights between good fighters are usually quick and decisive.

Wishy washy fucktards are still in a sewer grappling at each other throats long after it should have ended.
