I worked for an 8-person law firm out of law school. 4 partners, 4 associates. The partner for whom I was hired to work and I have the same first name and the same birthday, and he and my brother were born 3 days apart.
“It may be theoretically possible, but it would probably be a project that would last to the end of the universe. By then monkey’s may have evolved enough to find better use for their time.”
IBM’s Watson is not really a supercomputer, it is a cluster of 90 Power7 750 servers. I think I saw orders for more than that come into the company I work for last quarter.
The list price goes up to the $200K per server range, depending on configuration.
The real awesomeness in Watson playing Jeopardy is the software and knowledge bases that it uses to come up with an answer so quickly.
By the time you buy 2 cans of organic chick peas, and the other stuff needed, when you factor in the time spent to make it I don’t really think 3 or 4 dollars is all that unreasonable. Organic beans aren’t cheap. 2 bucks a can maybe?
Plus it’s NEVER as creamy as Sabra when you make it yourself.
