A Minneapolis woman who tried to mail a puppy to her son in Georgia won’t get the dog back.
Thirty-nine-year-old Stacey Champion attended an administrative hearing at Minneapolis City Hall Monday to try to reclaim the 4-month-old Schnauzer mix. But authorities denied her request.
Champion was charged with animal cruelty after postal workers discovered the puppy last month in a sealed box with no air holes. Authorities say the puppy likely would have died if shipped. Postal workers discovered the package because it was moving.
At Monday’s hearing, Champion claimed she put air holes and water bottles in the box. She says her son was deprived of his birthday gift.
The Minneapolis Animal Care and Control shelter has cared for the puppy, named Guess, since the incident.
DH, 1 thing to factor into your move financials – you’ll be whacked for early termination fee on your fios. or you lucky to sign recently after they waived contracts?
DH- we were in the backyard of an old house last week- it was gorgeous! When someone stepped on the snow, the coating made a loud SNAP!- loud enough for even me to hear. The sun reflected off the ice so brightly, I could barely see.
“The ice coating over the snow was the strangest thing. I’ve never seen it before but it was thick and glossy”
it’s so cool! my bldg has an large internal courtyard where the snow has been untouched. when it froze over it was so glossy – and when the sun rose in the morning it would leave a really beautiful purple hue on the snow!

sweet bx! snow can be beautiful in so many ways – too bad it’s such a PITA to get around in :-\
Whose berms these are I think I know
Her car is on the other street though
She will not see me stopping here
As I shovel from my car the leftover snow
My Mexican friend must think it queer
To stop without a bar near
Between the cars and frozen street
The darkest evening of the year.
the rain was the best. melted a ton of the snow. melt some more and I would welcome some pretty white fresh snow.
