you’re right benson, I meant the trades unions, not the UFT, municipal unions, etc.
I had a union guy named Louie yesterday in a freight elevator, close to retirement, explain to me all the permutations of Italian names and how his Irish daughter in law doesn’t get it. Why he’s Louie Sr, his son is Big Louie, and how some other Louies are some other confusing Louies.
The he asks me where I live, I say Brooklyn. Ah, he says, I had to get out of Brooklyn. He grew up in Carroll Gardens, then bought a house in Gravesend. Gravesend went down the toilet, he said, all kinds of people moving in, blacks, dotheads, etc. (This stated in front of company).
He’s happy now, bought a nice house on the South Shore of SI, he has nice neighbors, he says.

UFT or Hospital Workers union: Left of Bxgrl.
BTW: I am enjoying the growing revolt within the UFT over the issue of seniority.
if benson actually spent more time around union guys he’d know that while the leadership may claim to vote Democratic the membership seldom does.
