  1. mine:

Sunday – a woman on a Queens street mistakes David suchet (the actor who played Poirot on PBS’s Mystery!) for a famous director; he is living in a homeless shelter and pretends along.

    The Day of the Jackal

    The Great Escape

  2. Oh yes- the Color Pruple. Some movies that are my faves I have only seen once because they are so painful and moving to watch.

Little Women (always loved the book too).
    the Elephant Man.
Hook (and loved the sets in that)

  3. Oh, and the kid in me loves all the Shrek movies and Horton Hears a Who! Anyone remember Bedknobs & Broomsticks with Angela Lansbury? That’s my favorite childhood movie.

  4. Whoops, should read Schindler’s List, can’t spell today.

Other faves, also not highbrow, but I love them:

    The Matrix (first one)
    Stand By Me
Scarlet Pimpernel w/ Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour
    Finding Neverland
    The Secret of Roan Inish
Ladyhawk (stupid score, and Matthew Broderick is annoying, but I love the story)

Ditto on Shawshank, Edward Scissorhands, Drumline, Whale Rider – all wonderful.
