I’ve been reading over the last several years that many consumer products companies have been reducing sizes while keeping prices constant.
On a related note, this is also apparently one of the success secrets of dollar stores – offer up smaller amounts of products.
The chain “99 cents only” has better margins than Wal-Mart.
Less product: yes, this looks like inflation without raising the prices too much – yet.
But it’s been true of HD for well over a month.
